Great Is Thy Faithfulness – Israel Houghton’s style
This weekend’s worship our thrust is on the Faithfulness of GOD
GOD IS FAITHFUL!
. . . even when we are faithless
. . . even when we are unfaithful
Our third song … no prizes for guessing .. is the beautiful hymn GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS.
During our worship practise this week, Grace & Levi pointed out that Israel did a rendition of this hymn which was more modern and “awesome”. And Levi just passed the link over moments ago.
Now the big question is .. can our worship team pull off this “version” of GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS?

Bob Fitts LIVE in Glad Tidings, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia – 14 & 15 Aug 2009

Bob Fitts will be coming to Malaysia and he will be having a Worship Seminar and Worship Nite at Glad Tidings Petaling Jaya.
For those of us who who grew up in church listening to Integrity Music .. .would remember Bob Fitts’ albums and songs taken from the albums Proclaim His Power, He Will Save U, The Lord Reigns and others. For the younger generation, you would most probably still hear a few of his songs still sung in church today!
** For those of you who are familiar or grew up singing songs with Bob Fitts, do let us know which are your fav songs! One of my personal favourite is THE LORD REIGNS!! (video below)
He is a great worship leader and after many years of being in the worship ministry, he’s now actively traveling the world conducting worship seminars and impacting worship all over the world!
He’s based in Hawaii and recently just released a new worship album called Restore.
The Splendour of the King showed up at Worship Night
We had an amazing time in the presence of God last Friday Night, when the church came together with just one sole purpose, Praising and Worshipping God with one voice!
It was a night of celebrative praise, joyful dancing and intimate worship and also seeking God’s presence. I was so blest as God just moved in such a mighty way during our Proclaim His Power Worship Night.
We had over 1,000 people in church singing Hallelujah and proclaiming Jesus as our King and we were so glad that many came with expectant hearts despite the heavy downpour last Friday. Ps Vincent shared an amazing message on Worship (which i need to elaborate on separate post soon), on how Paul & Silas despite being in Jail, Praise & Worship God.
All Glory to God, as we saw eight people surrendering their lives to God for the first time and the church coming out for prayer after Ps Vincent’s sharing. God’s move was amazing last Friday. Are you blest too?
Planning to introduce HEALER in our Healing Encounter Next Week
A song of faith declaration especially in the chorus .. when it goes I BELIEVE YOU’RE MY HEALER and of course the Bridge of the song totally seals it by declaring NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU!!! AMEN?? AMEN!!
The song is just so appropriate for a Healing Service and I am really glad that we’re having one over the Merdeka weekend. What better way to celebrate the Merdeka, by delcaring our faith in our Healer!
Glad Tidings PJ will be having our Healing Encounter service next week … over the Merdeka Weekend. Its gonna be fabulous as we will be having Rev Dr Bernard Blessing with us again!! Its just gonna be Awesome!
Have i told you the Healing Encounter services are FREE to the public? So book your dates on Thu, Fri, Sat or Sunday!!
Paradise Australia Music Workshop on 16 Aug
YAY!! The Worship Band from Paradise Community Church is back in Malaysia.
Paradise is from Adelaide, Australia and we have sung many songs from Paradise in our church. In fact we really love their old albums …. (my fav is Unspeakable Joy!).
Paradise is also the church where Guy Sebastian is from and that was where he sky rocketed to fame when he won the Australian Idol a couple of years ago.
So they will be holding a Music Workshop on 16 August 2008 – this coming Saturday in Petaling Jaya!
Song : Come Holy Spirit (GTPJ)
We had an amazing time of worship this weekend in Church. God’s presence was just so so GREAT in all the 3 worship services on Saturday & Sunday.
I really believe GOD is doing something wonderful in Glad Tidings PJ!
It was rather funny cos we had planned to sing GREAT IS THE LORD as our fourth song, but it just never happened, Ps Gwen who was leading that song just changed the song sequence as the Spirit of God moved.
Love that!
We had the opportunity to teach another locally written song called COME HOLY SPIRIT this weekend in church, its a slow song and with a simple & catchy chorus.
The song in its entirety based on Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Article : Straining to Praise- When Congregational Songs Get Out of Reach
I like this article! Dan Grassi wrote a rather lengthy but very true aspect of how worship leaders choose songs for today’s worship service. How we cope with the different changes of key/notes, especially if they hit the high range. I also like the fact that he pointed out that there are many Christian Artistes that has produced worship albums, and that could be another reason why songs are written or played in a key that the congregation can’t sing.
I personally love Israel Houghton’s songs. But his range in his music arrangements (for Lakewood & Israel & New Breed) are often super super high! So how do we cope with it. Check out Dan’s article below.
….. Read On …..
Vocalists carry a tremendous responsibility in the world of church music. Whether you are formally trained in voice or not, professional or volunteer, a children’s choir director, a worship leader, choir or ensemble singer, vocalists feel the weight of this humbling task of leading God’s people in worship-its rewards and challenges.
If this describes you, then you are in good company. We believe, among many things, that having a good voice is preferable for those in our occupation. Also a strong, clear, musically sensitive voice is worth its weight in gold. We continually strive for a “sound” as a worship ensemble that maintains a solid, clean vocal presence. It’s the engine that keeps the worship experience moving in our churches and the glue that sticks a melody in our congregation’s ear.
Hillsong United LIVE in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
First and foremost, my humble apologies for not updating the worship blog for so long. Busy is an understatement!!
And yes, i’ve been waiting to talk about Hillsong United at my church for the longest time, and finally today, i managed to find some time to share UNITED with you.
For those of you who were there on 28 May 2008, i am sure you totally enjoyed yourself, and was fully immersed in WORSHIP.
Like the pic? Big Thanks to Daniel, i love the play of colors and the focus on the foreground with the people in background. Absolutely lovely!
Will share more pictures (tks to Daniel) with you, and my experience of their song … From The Inside Out. That nite was absolutely packed, literally like sardines, with up to 3000 people in Glad Tidings, Maranatha Hall.
The atmosphere was electrifying, everyone was just hungry to worship, it was trully a worship leader’s dream.
Let me tell u why . . .
Article : Raising the Younger Worship Band
I can’t agree with this article more! How many of you include your young people into your main worship teams/bands?
If you had the choice of having enough resources on your main worship team, would you include the youth band or team with your main? Or would the youth play for their service and the main service have a separate set.
The first week of May saw the “debut” of the Youth Band in the GT Worship Main Service. In fact they took all the three services from Sat to Sun.
I trully believe in raising up the next generation and feel that they have a lot to contribute and to give. Though skills and experience may differ from a the main church worship team, but they too have their own niche.
I believe more important was their hearts of worship. Their passion to serve, their ability to give their talents to God. And it was an amazing blessing that weekend to both the band and the church.
They were totally dedicated and committed to the task, and how many of u remember not being able to sleep, cos u were gonna playing the guitar for service the next day? Remember those first few times?
