What is the difference between primary generalized seizures and partial seizures?
I know that there are types of seizures defined under each category, but is there any underlying commonalities between the two? Specific traits to tell the difference? Something common between all the seizures under either type? Thanks
How serious is generalized seizures?
My son 2 yrs old has had 2 seiizures which he was convulsing lasted about 1 min each doctors thought it might have been febrile seizures. They sceduled him for an EEG he then had a 3rd one before I got the results but it was different . He never convulsed like the first two he was standing up and could not breath. and just staring up to the side. We finally got his test relults which indicated that he has generalized seizure disorder. How serious is this and will my 2nd child who is 9 months have a high chance of the similar outcome. If anyone out there has it or knows anyone who has this disorder with any information would be welcomed thank you in advance
Epilepsy v. Generalized Seizure Disorder?
What's the difference between epilepsy and a generalized seizure disorder? My 4 yr old nephew was diagnosed with febrile seizures at 10 mos, and then diagnosed with epilepsy around 2 yrs old. He visited a new neurologist yesterday who said he has a generalized seizure disorder, not epilepsy. What's the difference? He has sinus problems which contribute to poor sleep patterns, which contribute to his seizures. He also has acid reflux and is deathly allergic to dairy products. They want to put him on depacoe sp? . Any good bad experiences with this med?He was diagnosed with epilepsy, then the seizure disorder he has absence seizures daily and tonic clonic seizures monthly...
How effective is Carbamazepine in preventing generalised seizures?
2nd go here at finding an answer. It's shouldn't be a difficult question, after all it's prescribed to prevent seizures, so how effective is it? I would have thought it would have been the first question asked when prescribed any drug. How effective is it? I'll put it another way, if 100 children are prescribed this drug how many of them are likely to stop having seizures? None of the UK epilepsy charities can answer the question, the drug company won't tell me and the consultant won't give a straight answer.
