Hong Kong Holiday : December 2009 

We traveled on Air Asia to Hong Kong, which took about 3 hours and 50 minutes each way. Our experience with Air Asia was pretty good, no major delays, no bad service, no bad luggage experience.

Day  1 :  We arrived in Hong Kong on a Sunday nite. We pretty much settled down and checked-in into Excelior Hotel at Causeway Bay. The location at Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island was ideal! Easy for eating, and transportation.

Day 2  : One full day at Ocean Park Hong Kong, followed with a dinner with Douglas. Contray to my own belief, Ocean Park is NOT like Sunway Lagoon. Its huge .. bigger than Disneyland and resides on a mountain. Lovely rides for children and also rides for adults wiht Live show with Dolphin & Seals and a huge aquariam similiar to what you see in Aquaria.

Day3 : Shopping Day with Irene. Irene picked us up at Excelsior and brought us to Stanley Market, Lunch at Yung Kee (super yummy Goose and Egg Tart and mroe!) and shopping at Cenral, then more shopping at City Gate Mall and finally a check-in at Disneyland Hollywood Hotel

Day 4 & 5 : Spent enjoying Disneyland  Parkwith the kids. Explored all the 3 lands : Tomorrowland, Fantasy Land & Adventure Land. Its  a much smaller Disneyland park compared to the others, but its really enjoyable if you put the Kids as the priority. They enjoyed every bit of it, and so did we! It was the Sparkling Christmas experience that we enjoyed at Disneyland, with Mickey & Minnie dressed in a blue Christmassy outfit, and a Disney Let It Snow Parade at  Main Street! – AWESOME!!

 

Tips for parents  travelling to Hong Kong

• For kids below 3, its ALL FREE! Zoe Joy enjoyed FREE meals, free Park Entrances at Ocean Park & Disneyland
• Bring a Stroller, cos it will help you to move around easily. Traversing the Disneyland Park & Ocean Park is tiring for the kids, after a bit, they just want to be carried or sit . Contrary to Air Asia’s feedback, the stroller can be checked-in into the airplan for free, don’t forget to declare it at the point check-in, so they can add it to your baggage claim ticket.
• Moving around in Hong Kong can be easily done with their fantastic subway (MTR) and busses. You must get an Octopus Card, its similiar to Touch & Go, which allows you to move around easily and also pay at some stores. Alternatively if you have a bit more money, taxis are super convenient too. Taxis starts at HKD 18 when you step in. If you carry luggage, they charge you HKD5 for each luggage in the boot!
• If you are flying with Air Asia, and you have some questions. Rather than call them, just drop a question on AirAsia Facebook Fan Page, they will respond to you much much quicker than if you try to call them.
